Over the River and Through the Woods
We are remote blogging today from Gramma Judi's in Hummelstown. I'm laughing as my friend from Erie Katie Duncombe is on the Price is Right today and will end up winning the Showcase Showdown! My other friend Julie has been on the Wheel and had Pat Sajak ask her to not shout the letters so loudly into her mike :) Lucy got a sock kitty from Julie for Christmas and has taken a real liking to it; see photo of her snoozing with the little gato. We're off to Wegman's for lunch today after Gramma gets back from driving the special needs people mover! Gramma also loves to dig out my old toys. See photo of Lucy in her 1980 "Tot Wheels" aka baby seat on wheels that is no longer sold as I'm sure Graco was sued when some tots tumbled down the stairs. She's staring into the eyes of a doll that was mine who resembles the bride of Chucky from Child's Play. Something's funky with the photo uploading so will add those later. Ciao!

Baba the Babysitter
From time to time, I need a break from this kid, so Grandma Kay aka BABA came to watch Lucy while I got a haircut and highlights. She screamed virtually the whole time I was gone except when she mowed down her bottle. Oh boy. She better learn to love her grandmas really quickly!!

Shoot: Day 2
We were booted from the house again today for day 2 of the commercial shoot so drove all over, had lunch and visited Stacey and Grey. Lucy got to see the 'hood when we checked out 2 properties in NE for his company. She has fully become a momma's girl. Cries for everyone else, especially daddy. Hope some time with gramma Judi later this week will help her think about calming down when someone else holds her!

Movie Shoot
Lucy and I have been displaced from our homestead today as Express Homebuyers, Jud's company, is shooting a new commercial at the house. It was a genuine three ring circus at our house this morning with the camera crew of 8, the cleaning people, Lucy playing, me pumping and Jud eating lentil soup on the fly. We are setting up shop today at Uncle Greg and Aunt Laura's. To see a clean house free of baby items! Not for long (they are expecting twins in June!). We may strap into the Peg Perego and head to Shirlington in a bit but it's still freezing out there. Here she is sleeping on Aunt Laura's couch.

Three Months Old
Lucy is three months old today! She weighed in at about 10 lbs. 8 oz this morning and is 23 and 1/2 inches long. She gained a pound since last month. She's in about the 5th-10th percentile for weight and between 25 and 50 for length. As long as she keeps going up steadily we are doing great. For her three month birthday we celebrated by making lentil soup. Oh fun!!

Working Girl
Today Lucy and I went into the office to chat about me going back to work. I will be starting back on Monday, March 3rd! Here she is in her new Rainforest Jumperoo. Of course, her feet are still 6 inches from touching the ground. I'd like to think she's an overachiever who is trying new feats before her counterparts. Also, I needed a new distraction mechanism when I'm trying to get anything done during the day :) She is blowing bubbles in the last pic. I guess that's another milestone, right?? Tomorrow Lucy is three months old so we will post a blog with her stats!! I am excited to see she is beginning to work the double chin. Yay for getting chubby!

Friday Fun
After a day of snow yesterday, Lucy and I needed an outing other than the dentist so headed to the mall to pick up a gift for the baptism we're attending tomorrow. I also could not resist buying her another box of Trumpette http://www.trumpette.com/ socks. For all new moms and moms to be looking for socks that stay on, these are the best. Lucy and I are waiting for daddy to come home. I've been dying for fish tacos so hopefully he'll be up for Taqueria Poblano!! Of note in the pictures above is that the 3-month flower outfit is too small--her feet almost broke through the bottoms of it. Yeah!

The Sound of Music
Occasionally when Jud comes home from work, Lucy decides to freak out and scream as soon as he picks her up. I need a break so he tries in vain to calm her, but it's not until I take her and sing "My Favorite Things" in her ear that she quiets down (see above photo before I handed her off to dad). I really don't know why this song became her favorite, but it works like a charm. Jud tries to sing it to her as well but does not know the words. His version: "Raindrops and roses and bright colored kittens, big copper kettles and children with mittens." I want to know where exactly he's seen these bright colored kittens. Our kid is going to be totally confused.
Garage Sale Special
There's really nothing as good as finding a great deal at an Erie garage sale, like this one dollar Baby Einstein gym which Lucy loves. I've attached the monkey on her left side and she's just started to grab and bat at it. We attended our first MOMS club play group yesterday and she made some new friends. It's going to be fun to see all these little ones (almost all girls!) grow up over the spring and summer.

Morning Snack
Here's where Lucy hangs out and watches the Today show with me and Jud in the mornings. Since she's found her hands so delicious we don't have to find the paci for relief! She sat like this for about 30 minutes. I wonder if I should be concerned that she likes watching TV so much.....We attended our first mom and baby fitness class tonight. It was fun! She is exhausted and hopefully will sleep better than last night when she woke up twice...ugh!

God Bless Lucy
Yesterday Lucy was baptized at St. Joseph's on Capitol Hill in DC. She did great and did not even make a peep when she got the water on her head! She wore the gown that I, Katie, Judi and my grandmother all wore. It was a very special day for everyone! Thanks to all for coming. Betsy and Greg, when are you going to start reading your godchild the Bible??

Baking with Baby
So in the hours I've been sitting here breastfeeding, I've logged some serious time watching the Food Network. Today I was inspired to make beef stew (the old Set it and Forget it Slow Cooker) and chocolate cake. Too bad trying to do all of this while holding Lucy in the Baby Bjorn does not mean my cake is bound to end up on the cover of Gourmet. See photos, and Lucy's reaction when I showed her the cake. Doug, can you please give me some baking lessons?? Other photo is evidence of the power of the Happiest Baby on the Block. I recommend this book to all new moms and moms to be. One of the 5 s's that help calm baby are Swinging baby on her Side. She shuts up immediately :)

Popcorn and Pedis
Lucy loves loud noises. She was particularly intrigued by the popcorn popper. Second photo is the post-feeding daze. We also enjoyed the 70 degree January day today and walked down to Shirlington and since Lucy was sleeping, I decided to stop into see my friends at Diana Nails and get a pedi. She slept the whole time and allowed me a few minutes of bliss getting my feet taken care of!! Yeah!
