Winter Doldrums
We are dying for spring to get here after a week of particularly cold and windy temps. Lucy LOVES to go outside and has been pining for her coat, which she calls "gabba" for some reason, or maybe gabba means outside, and finally it's a bit warmer today so we may venture out after naptime. It was a busy week with gymnastics, book club for 13 on Tuesday, granny Judi here (thanks for all the help!), Ash Weds mass, storytime, Spanish class and another neighbor coming over for dinner tonight. I made turkey pot pie (lighter version), mashed potatoes and apple crisp for tonight. YUM! Off to Baba and Grandad's tomorrow for the weekend. We are excited to see them; it's been a while!

Quiet Weekend
We didn't do much this weekend and it was just great! Lucy is going on an almost 3-hour nap so I've been watching TV and reading. WOO HOO! Looking forward to seeing some pretty gowns on the Oscar pre-show. Lucy got together with all her cousins at Jen's last night and we will post pics once we get some from her. It was fun to have everyone together for the first time in a while (minus Ryan who was sick!).

Emotional
Lucy moves from angry to happy in about 3 seconds. She loves to stick out her lower lip a la photo above. She also has a few new words now (the language that is only discernable to a parent....you know what I mean!) and they are mommy (YAY FINALLY!), fish, pie (which means foot in Spanish), yeah and apple. I've also noticed that she is very easygoing when it comes to sharing toys. If another kid comes and steals her toy, she doesn't cry. She simply moves on and finds another one. Great news!

Baby and Ugly
Lucy has taken a major liking to her baby doll and her UglyDoll (UglyDog). She totes them around the house and likes to ride with them in the car. We need distractions in the car now that we've ditched car paci and turned her forward facing. It is so exciting for her! She loves to point to the IPod and demand that I put on her music, her favorite songs being "I Like to Move It" from the Madagascar 2 soundtrack, "Do Re Mi" from Sound of Music (Ok I love that song too) and the ol reliable Andrea Bocelli, any song featuring him and Chris Botti.

Valentine's Weekend
After we got back from Florida, we had a fun and busy weekend with Lopa and Ryan, and had V night dinner with them and Mike and Allison. It was great to have the KKG reunion (plus boyfriends/hubbies) at my house! Here's Lucy supervising Jud using the SlapChop for garlic. She also loves giving him high fives. She LOVES her daddy and now whines for him when we are home and he's not around. I better find some ways to be as fun as daddy!!
Mixon Fruit Farm
One of our outings was to the last family owned citrus farm in the US, the Mixon Fruit Farm in Bradenton. It was great! We sampled the local fruit, ate homemade orange sherbet and took a tour of their wildlife preserve. The guy with the straw hat was the guide and is a savior of local animals. Like he saved an iguana from a Wal-Mart Dumpster, got a deer from someone's house who was keeping him like Bambi, etc. Oh, and he said that half of them, possums, owls and raccoons, live in his house and use litter boxes. Only in Florida!!

My Eyes
Lucy is pretty good at pointing to all her body parts when you ask her "Where's your foot/hair...etc." but on the eyes she does this funny thing where she squints, and does not point to her eyes. And with her nose, she sniffs and snorts like a piggy instead of pointing to her nose. I guess she's good at showing me what those body parts are for!! Here you can also see her new molars. She has 12 teeth now!

Year of the Ox
We went down to Chinatown for the Chinese New Year parade and it was fun. Lucy took in all the sights. It was a great way to spend a sunny and warm Sunday. We also hit the atrium adjacent to the National Portrait Gallery which is awesome for kids. They can run all around and burn off some steam. We ended the day with dinner at Jen and Randall's and cheered the Steelers on to victory! On another note, Lucy has been eating like a horse!! Mac and cheese, cookies, monkey bread. It's been great. We are going to break 20 lbs soon I am convinced...so then we can FINALLY turn her car seat forward!!
